Monteverdi - Vespro della beata vergine (Vespers)
Sat 21 Dec ’1920:15 uurmain hall
The Vespers probably made up the most genius application letter in musical history. In 1610, Monteverdi travelled all the way from Mantua to Rome to personally hand them to pope Paul V. He very much wanted to be assigned to the papal chapel. The work constitutes a sample of the musical techniques and styles of those days. A cross-section of the art of composing around the year 1600. And for that era, a remarkable example of individual use of instruments.
To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the 'wallet-less intermission' concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
