Siebelink is always about regular folks. His famous novel Kneeling on a bed of violets, which became a huge best-seller, is no exception. He wrote it to better his understanding of his father’s world, a floriculturist struggling with faith and sectarianism. Tonight the writer is accompanied by Borboleta Music, an ensemble revolving around clarinettist André Kerver. Their music is improvised on the spot, mutually inspired by each other's various backgrounds in jazz, classical and world music.
Lidewijde Paris will be presenting a brief introduction about the author at 19:30. Formerly a bookseller, journalist, copywriter, editor and publisher, Lidewijde Paris currently works as a lecturer, conducts interviews with authors and is the founder of The Reading Embassy. Recently, her book Hoe lees ik? (ed. ‘How do I read?’) was published. The introduction may be attended free of charge. Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is producing the series ‘In één Adem’ (ed. ‘In just one Breath’) in conjunction with the bookshop Boekhandel van Piere.
