On 18 May 2018, Job Cohen shook his hand smiling. “Prego, signore Sollima, the Anner Bijlsma Award for you!” The social democrat did not mention the fact that the award amounted to 50,000 euros but he did underline the great significance of this international lifetime achievement award.

Today, Sollima has ‘narrowed’ his vast range of qualities of composer, cellist and researcher to that of cellist. He is joining Quantuor Diotima for Schubert’s Quintet. This chamber music piece by the famous Viennese composer is his greatest, with an unmeasurable depth to the adagio that seems to describe the entire universe. Beethoven’s opus 135 was yet another goodbye. Still, a more beautiful start to a series of concerts by Sollima is hardly imaginable.

To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the ‘wallet-less intermission’ concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
