Suzanne Vega released her new album An evening of New York Songs and Stories (CookingVinyl) to the world in April 2020. After a sold out concert in the Waalse Kerk (Waalse Kerk, Amsterdam), the coronavirus and all measures hindered a further European tour and thus also her show in Eindhoven. On June 30 2021, Vega comes to our country once more, to a very special location: the renewed Paterskerk (Father's Church) in Eindhoven.

Op An Evening of New York Songs and Stories staan eerder uitgebrachte nummers die geïnspireerd zijn door New York, dit keer in een live-uitvoering. Het album werd vorig jaar opgenomen in de beroemde New Yorkse bar Café Carlyle. Naast hits als Luka en Tom's Diner komen ook minder bekende pareltjes aan bod, zoals Frank and Ava en Ludlow Street. Ook New York is my Destination wordt uit haar repertoire naar boven gehaald. An Evening of New York Songs and Stories is geproduceerd door Gerry Leonard waarbij de mix is uitgevoerd door geluidstechnicus en Grammy Award-winnaar Kevin Killen en de master is verzorgd door Grammy Award-winnaar Bob Ludwig.

De nummers klinken als verhalen die op meesterlijke wijze door Suzanne Vega worden verteld. Haar haast "puur poëtische blik op de wereld” valt telkens weer op het stadsleven, gewone mensen en onderwerpen die uit het leven gegrepen zijn. De gevatte en pure songs van Vega zijn nog altijd even herkenbaar, uniek en diepzinnig als toen ze 30 jaar geleden voor het eerst op de radio te horen was.
