‘The best of my works, because the most honest,’ said Tchaikovsky of his Sixth Symphony. It undoubtedly honours its nickname ‘Pathétique’ as it is probably the most passionate, poignant and powerful piece the great Russian composer ever committed to paper. A symphony as a deeply felt autobiography. It’s with good reason that The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra proudly takes its name from this composer. Vladimir Fedoseyev has led the orchestra for almost half a century and turned it into one of the world’s best.
