Shards is the vocal-led project of singer, composer and producer Kieran Brunt. Shards formed in 2016 when the Barbican were looking for a choir to collaborate with Nils Frahm for their Possibly Colliding festival. Debut album Find Sound is intended to be read as a collection of short, sonic paintings, with each burst of colour adding to an overall picture of the emotional confusion of early adulthood: the uncertainty, the excitement, the terror and the relief.
Strange Boy’s music tells stories. The London-based duo’s music spans lush techno production, grand biblical references and rose-tinted adolescent recollections—often in the course of one song. The band is made up of Kieran Brunt and Matt Huxley. Brunt sings the vocals and writes the lyrics, and Huxley crafts the productions to enclose them. Together they work to bring the resultant songs to life, collaborating to bring them to their final form.
James McVinnie’s work as a performer encompasses music from the 16th century to the present day. He has collaborated with many leading figures in new music including Philip Glass, Tom Jenkinson/Squarepusher, Angelique Kidjo, Nico Muhly, Martin Creed, Richard Reed Parry, Bryce Dessner, Darkstar, Hildur Guðnadóttir, David Lang, Sarah Davachi many of whom have written large scale works for him.
