The French Quatuor Modigliani was founded just over fifteen years ago. Like artist Amedeo Modigliani, the four string players paint the music they perform with elegant, graceful lines, their passion for the golden quartet repertoire resounding in every note they play. Critics are invariably impressed by the quartet’s persistent, youthful esprit.

It is as if you can hear works that have since become classics in all their splendour and glory for the very first time. ‘The Modigliani belongs to the cream of new string quartet playing ... a quartet with a Dionysian character: energetic, with a sound that has a marvellous richness and is downright festive’, proclaimed the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The Modiglianis have always had a soft spot for Eindhoven as this is where the quartet made its definitive breakthrough after winning the 2004 Tromp International Music Competition. The recital with which Quatuor Modigliani is now returning to Eindhoven is indeed enchanting, with Mozart for excitement, Schubert for a touch of romance with his ‘Rosamunde’ and Debussy to dream away by.

To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the 'wallet-less intermission' concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
