The ecstatic, throbbing sound of the cello is more popular than ever. An intimate cello recital makes everyone’s heart sing and tickles the senses. More and more bold cello warriors are volunteering for the musical frontline. One of the most conspicuous new names is the Estonian cellist Marcel Johannes Kits (1995). He has been winning one competition after another in quick succession. In 2018 he won the prestigious George Enescu International Competition in Romania. Two years before that he picked up prizes at the Austrian Johannes Brahms Competition.

He is a young cellist who understands how to authentically convey his love of cello music to his audiences. Kits regularly performs as a soloist with major orchestras, but he prefers to showcase his passion for chamber music. From Bach to Piazzolla and from fellow Estonian Pärt to Beethoven. Prepare yourself for a candid and impassioned performance on a 1674 Francesco Ruggeri cello. Kits will be accompanied by his regular sparring partner, pianist Sten Heinoja.
