‘You choose.’ One day in 1928, Béla Bartók presented the renowned violinist Zoltán Székely with a surprise. He produced two brand new manuscripts from behind his back: two rhapsodies for violin. Which one would Székely like to have?

Read our corona guidelines to find out how we guarantee a safe environment and a great concert experience.

He chose the second one, adding: ‘but I hope that doesn’t mean the first one will automatically be dedicated to my colleagues Josef Szigeti?!’ 27-year-old Stella Chen’s choice is the first rhapsody, based on Hungarian folk music. The American violinist’s playing is ‘emotionally profound’ (The Jerusalem Post).

This concert doesn't have an interval. A drink and a selection of cheeses are included, please be welcome in the foyer before the concert.
