Thomas Dudkiewicz & Matangi Quartet
Haydn - String Quartet opus 76 no. 5 “Sunrise”
Dudkiewicz discusses the rising and setting of the sun and Earth’s potential demise. If you listen closely to Haydn’s phenomenal quartet, you will not only hear the sun rising, but a little Schubert can also be heard in the distance: just when this piece was being composed (1797), baby Schubert was uttering his first cries just a few blocks away in Vienna.
