After a radiant sunrise over the river Moskva, so beautifully portrayed by Mussorgsky, we hear Offenbach’s overture to The Rhine Nixies, in which, suddenly, we recognise his later aria and infinitely beloved operatic melody, La Barcarolle. Schumann too was inspired by the water and brings us a tempestuous homage to the river Rhine with his Third Symphony. During the live TV-report of the finale of the famous Tchaikovsky Concours, all of a sudden we could see ‘From the Netherlands’ behind Johanathan Roozeman’s name. That is partly correct, as he is of Finnish-Dutch descent. You cannot imagine how proud we are to have this new star cellist. ‘Only 23 years old and already a proven virtuoso,’ according to the New York Times.
To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the 'wallet-less intermission' concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
