With a tour of China coming up, the sheer enjoyment they radiate onstage is still undiminished after fifteen years: a grand piano, a guitar and five classically trained voices that do not shirk from entering into a Titanic battle with each other, to be always reconciled in perfect harmony in an ever-growing repertoire.
In 2005 a group of musicians came together for what was intended as a once-only musical tribute to the legendary Comedian Harmonists. The concert at the Amsterdam Canal Festival was a revelation, both for the audience and the performers. The unrivalled songs by the Berlin ‘boy band’ from the interbellum was an unprecedented hit. The gentlemen on stage that evening did not leave it at that and named their formation after the founder of their illustrious predecessors: Frommermann was born, and soon embarked on a tour of the Netherlands that would last two seasons with their production ‘De Stilte aan Stukken’ (Silence in Pieces). In 2008/09 the group continued touring with their theatrical concert ‘Holland-America Lijn’, dedicated to Dutch and American music from the 30s and 40s, accompanied by film footage by Michael Helmerhorst.

In 2008 the gentlemen performed at the Prinsengracht Concert in Amsterdam before an audience of thousands, as well as on the occasion of the Netherlands’ Remembrance Day in the Concertgebouw in the following year. During the next few years Frommermann revived the scintillating dark decade with ‘Betoverende Jaren 30’ (The Enchanting 30s), in a vocal variety show (directed by Karel de Rooij and Hans Minnaert) and produced ‘FrommerFranz’, a tribute to Schubert (directed by Marc Pantus), ‘Classified’ (directed by Bart Oomen), Frommermann’s theatrical take on the world of surveys, review committees and hearings, and a Christmas concert aptly named ‘Frommer-Kerst’. 2015 was a special year: the Remembrance Day concert in De Kleine Komedie and the celebration of their tenth anniversary in a production directed by Marc Pantus. The Channel Classics label has since released Music of the Comedian Harmonists and Holland-America Line. Boum, FrommerKerst and 10 were released on the ensemble’s own label Frommermann Records in cooperation with Harmonia Mundi.
To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the 'wallet-less intermission' concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
