The National Youth Orchestra and the Storioni Trio will be embarking on a joint voyage of discovery. Moór wrote this masterpiece at a turning point in the history of music, when radicals like Debussy and Stravinsky turned the musical world on its head in the early twentieth century. Indeed, Stravinsky’s revolutionary The Rite of Spring has lost none of its feral appeal since it was premièred. The proverbial cherry on top of this adventurous concert is a brand-new work by Dutch composer Bram Kortekaas.
The Storioni Trio is the artistic director of the Storioni Festival in Eindhoven, and performs regularly at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw and festivals such as Kuhmo, the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, the Osnabrück Kammermusiktage and the Trio Festival in the Moscow Philharmonic. The ensemble has toured India, the Middle East, Australia, Taiwan, Japan and the USA. Founded in 1995, the Storioni Trio celebrated its 20th anniversary in the 2015-16 season, with triple concertos with the Sankt Gallen Sinfonie Orchester, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and philharmonie zuidnederland.
