A musical dream is fulfilled

The conductor Hartmut Haenchen and the South Netherlands Philharmonic have developed a warm and lasting relationship over the last concert seasons. Haenchen conducted the orchestra in a couple of striking Brahms and Richard Strauss programmes. During the last season, his imposing rendition of Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony was reviewed with no less than five stars by NRC.

‘The musicians of the South Netherlands Philharmonic are lifted by Haenchen’s loving and analytic finesse’, in the words of the excited reviewer, who placed this concert in the top 3 of Cultural Highlights of 2019. Now, Haenchen returns with a fairylike and exuberant Eighth Symphony by Dvorák. Haenchen expressed a single wish: he would love to play together with his grandsons on the same stage. We made that dream come true. It is a true privilege to host these two prize-winning talents as our guests.

To keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum, this concert will make use of the 'wallet-less intermission' concept. Visitors are asked to pay for their intermission drink in advance when ordering their tickets: the perfect solution for enjoying your company and your drink as long as possible!
