Richard Thompson, co-founder of Fairport Convention, wrote 13 wonderful songs that he says belong together. To seal that, he had no choice but to go into the studio and turn them into a real album. Thompson went to the Boulevard Recording Studio (Los Angeles), also known as The Producers Workshop, where Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Ringo Starr, Joan Baez and many other’s classics were produced. In collaboration with Clay Blair (The War on Drugs) and regular musical partners Michael Jerome (drums, percussion), Taras Prodaniuk (bass) and Bobby Eichorn (guitar), Thompson also produced the album 13 Rivers himself.

Thompson: "“The are 13 songs on the record, and each one is like a river,” he explains. “Some flow faster than others. Some follow a slow and winding current. They all culminate on this one body of work.”
