After the great success of 2017, Rufus Wainwright is back with Amsterdam Sinfonietta's New Year's tour Breder than Classical. The 'Prince of Chamber Pop' himself already regularly bridges the classical world. Wainwright has already written two operas, for example. Together with Amsterdam Sinfonietta he performs his own songs and covers of his musical heroes. Success numbers from the previous show are combined with new compositions.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta's Breder dan Klassiek is a household name in the Netherlands. The unique performances of the string orchestra with artists from pop-, jazz- or worldmusic are a great success every year. Amsterdam Sinfonietta has previously worked with artists such as Jonathan Jeremiah, Typhoon and Wende. For the Breder dan Klassiek 2021-edition Amsterdam Sinfonietta has invited none other than Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, known as The Tallest Man on Earth.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta
Amsterdam Sinfonietta was founded in 1988 and has since grown into a dynamic and virtuoso ensemble performing all over the world. The string orchestra is praised for its innovative programming and close interplay. With the annual concert series Breder dan Klassiek, the orchestra enters into a collaboration with artists from outside the classical world, where both parties step out of their comfort zone resulting in an exciting cross-pollination between totally different musical worlds every year.
