Belgians: we like them a lot. Tonight a double-act packed with the very best our neighbours in the South have to offer. Dries Bongaerts, or just Dries. has it. It takes less than a few seconds before you're hooked on his voice and the rawness of his songs which are on a balance of blues and folk. As frontman of New Rising Sun of Solo and influenced by Bob Dylan, Will Oldham and Ry Cooder, he sings about small and big lives with a boundless readyness to fight. Singing, guitar, harmonica and that wonderfully husky voice: a singer-songwriter could hardly sound any more authentic than this.

Dixie Rose is the name by which Belgian couple Dag Luyten and Anniek Raedschelders introduce the world to their songs about life, love and everything else to do with that. Musically they merge country, pop, blues and Americana. Be it as a duo or supported by a band, it's always straight from the heart with the most wonderful arrangements and beautiful multi-vocals.

Every Monday, we present concerts with singer-songwriters, acoustic bands, rootsy performers and other gems from the music world. All this as part of a series called 'De Maandag van Van Meurs' (Van Meurs' Monday).
