On his new album, Fonseca crosses the border more than ever, without showing his passport to the music-police. Fonseca’s urge for renewal can’t be kept under control. He builds bridges between his Afro-Cuban roots and other styles ranging widely from jazz and classical to rap, funk, reggaeton and electronics. World music taken most literally. Fonseca does know what he is talking about as he has seen a lot of the world. Already in his twenties he joined the famous Bueno Vista Social Club and played with stars like Fatoumata Diawara, Ibrahim Malouf and Omara Portuondo.

Now that this groundbreaking album had been released, Fonseca would like to present it far outside of his own country’s borders. Always keen to go new ways, but above all his own way. This means practising, composing and experimenting constantly, determined as he is to give the audience his special and modernised variation of Cuban music.
