The first program to announce has been created especially for So What’s Next? with a special line-up of artists that never shared the stage before. On Saturday, October 30th, Minneapolis born vocalist, songwriter José James will present his best work in unique arrangements accompanied by the Metropole Orchestra and conducted by the renowned Jacomo Bairos. Also featuring are young and upcoming, adventurous vocalists/songwriters Gaidaa and Nana Adjoa.

José James has no doubt been one of the most versatile musicians in the past two decades. With his phenomenal debut album The Dreamer – 2008 – he is crossing the borders between jazz, hiphop, R&B, soul, pop, rock and even spoken word. He collaborated with the finest artists, like Lalah Hathaway and Ledisi, Robert Glasper and Flying Lotus, to name just a few.

After his first album his musical career was launched with a bang, he released twelve genre bending records, several on the iconic jazz label Blue Note and now on his own Rainbow Blonde Records, winning an Edison and the L’Académie du Jazz Grand Prix. In 2020 he released No Beginning No End 2, following up on the highly successful album from 2012 with the same name.

Sudanese/Dutch vocalist was raised in Eindhoven where she cultivated her musical dream into a solid recording and stage career. She is considered to be one of the most interesting and exciting neo-soul talents today. With producer Full Crate she released the album A Storm On A Summers Day, which caused a whirlwind on Spotify and other media. Her delicate soul music, with acoustic arrangements and stunning vocals, contains honest and significant lyricis with which she tells her truly personal stories.

One of the most beautiful Dutch pop records from 2020 came from the bassist, singer/songwriter Nana Adjoa. The Ghanaian/Dutch multi-talented Nana Adjoa is a traveler in sound, armed with skillful poetry and a strong sense of musicianship. But behind her fearless approach of songwriting lies a determined curiosity and openness to unending possibilities, all to be heard on her debut album Big Dreaming Ants.
