You might not say it at first glance, but Nathan Bell (Tenessee) is a thinker, with a love of poetry and a big heart, in which there is room for everyone. Even those he disagrees with politically. And there are many these days, courtesy of one Donald Trump. But love will conquer all, which was pretty much the motto of Bell's 2017 album Love > Fear. Its mission: to articulate the frustration of both blue- and white-collar fellow humans, with a healthy distaste for hate-filled populists. Poured into heartwarming folk songs that manage to touch you instantly.

Bell released several more records: Loves Bones And Stars; a live album; and, in late 2019, The Right Reverend Crow Sings New American Blues containing many bluesy songs inspired by musicians Nathan admires, such as Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Lightning Hopkins and Johnny Winter.

In 2021, his latest record will be released: Red, White and American Blues. On this album, Bell shows a slightly heavier side: it sounds soggy, dark and raw. There are a number of fantastic guest musicians (such as Patty Griffin), but it is mainly Nathan Bell himself who steals the show with his mature voice and straightforward songs. He knows how to outdo himself every time. This is Americana from the top shelf.

Every Monday, we present concerts with singer-songwriters, acoustic bands, rootsy performers, and other gems from the music world.
