It supposed to be a year filled with celebration, a joyous reunion.
We would celebrate my seventy-fifth birthday with you
and sing freely to Chawwa Wijnberg:

Violets, carnations
and a bag full of leeks
What do we have to celebrate
Violets, carnations
And a bag full of leeks.

Then that global virus came and we stayed home.

We can go again, step by step.
we will come to you after all,
to catch up on our celebrations.

Look forward to it,

Herman van Veen
