The Irish Englishman from Waterford managed to score hit after hit especially in the 1970s. At that time he was already a popular man among the female audience. So there will be several albums to be found, especially in mother's record box.
Now, several decades later, we hear the real "piano man" behind his keys again singing the stars from heaven. With Ethan Johns as producer, the new album is in the slipstream of Paul McCartney, Neil Diamond and Ray Montagne, with whom Johns was also involved. The Gilbert O'Sullivan album has beautiful songs that have a head and a tail and tell beautiful stories, as befits a real singer-songwriter. In England it immediately entered the top 20.
On O'Sullivan's brand new album we hear the songs Love How You Leave Me and the ballad Dansette Dream. They fit perfectly into the atmosphere of his Top 2000 hits Alone Again and Nothing Rhymed from the old days. Also, the uptempo songs What is it About My Girl and No Head For Figures Like Yours sound like the 70s, in a contemporary way.
