When we hear the beginning of Bach's Christmas Oratorio we know exactly what's in store for us. Some hefty blows on the timpanies, exciting trills from the woodwinds, blaring fanfares from the trumpets, all of it proudly and energetically paced in an attractive rhythm. This music is unmistakably festive and meant to celebrate the six days surrounding the birth of Christ from 25 December to 6 January. This work consists of 6 parts that can be performed separately, but work extremely well together in one performance.

"The Dutch Chamber Choir is for choral music what the Conertgebouw Orchestra is for orchestral music" the Volkskrant wrote. This ensemble has been at the top for 80 years now, the perfect ensemble to perfrom Bach's masterpiece.

Les Talens Lyriques was founded thirty years ago and made recordings for the Erato, Naïve, Virgin Classics and Decca labels. Their 2019 recording of Gounod's opera Faust won a Diapason d'Or, th Choc Classica and the Opéra Magazine Diamond. Les Talens Lyriques also recorded the sound track of the film Farinelli (1994) which sold over a million copies.
