Due to the latest measures implemented by our government around the corona virus outbreak, we have had to cancel all concerts and close our café Meneer Frits until September 1st. We are currently trying to re-schedule all cancelled concerts to a later date. Fritz Kreisler was one of the most sensational violinists of the first half of the twentieth century. He played his way to immortality with Liebesfreud and Schön Rosmarin. Therefore, it is a great honour to win the Viennese competition that was named after him.

Czech Milan Al-Ashab did just that. Debussy’s Violin Sonata demands endless finesse and a sense of nuance from the performer. Not all the names featured on the programme may be equally well-known: Suk is Dvořák’s romantic son-in-law, Nathan Milstein was also a violin prodigy and Waxman’s fantasy elaborates on Bizet’s famous opera.

A cheese selection & wine or another intermission beverage is included in the ticket price for this series.

Bijna tachtig was Fauré toen hij het pas aandurfde om - in het geheim - een strijkkwartet te schrijven. Als de dood was hij voor de vergelijking met Beethoven. Het is bijna gedestilleerde, ingetogen muziek. Het zwaartepunt ligt in het langzame deel met een hartverscheurend mooie melodie op de altviool. De finale is opgewekt, we kunnen soms zelfs spreken van een zekere uitbundigheid.
