Candy is happy to be performing again in halls and clubs and at the biggest festivals, but with this unique theater show, a long-cherished dream comes true. More Sax, Candy & Rock 'n Roll is filled with funny and touching outpourings. Candy talks candidly about what it's really like on the road, her tumultuous encounter with Prince, the pros and cons of scoring a worldwide number 1 hit at 19, about love and friendship and what it's like to be the boss of the band as a woman.
Candy Dulfer was already holding a saxophone when she was five years old - perhaps not so strange if your father is a well-known saxophonist. But after that things went extremely fast: at eleven she played in Rosa King's band, and at fourteen she had her own band, with which she was supporting Madonna even before she finished her final exams. Since then she has played with musical heroes like Prince, Van Morrison and Chaka Khan, had a world hit with "Lily was here" together with Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics and can call herself a "Grammy nominated artist" thanks to her album Saxuality. Candy is now not only one of the best known women in Dutch music, but also one of the best saxophonists in the world, even more famous abroad than here. She has worked with the likes of Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, Blondie and Pink Floyd, plays with her band all over the world and scored several number 1 hits in the US.
Candy is accompanied by Roger Happel (keyboards, vocals), Cyril Directie (drums) and Xander Buvelot (bass).
