Ahmet Aslan is best known for his virtuoso playing on the self-created instrument Di-Tar (a cross between the bağlama and classical guitar) and for his intimate vocal work. He gives his own interpretation of folk music from Anatolia.

An accomplished musician, Ahmet Aslan experienced his breakthrough through the use of his music in the popular Turkish mafia series Eşkiya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz. In 2003, he released his solo album titled Va u Waxt (Wind and Time), followed in 2008 by Meleklerin Dansi (Dance of the Angels).

At the World Music Academy in Rotterdam, he developed a unique instrument: a combination of the classical guitar with the Baglama. You can hear the instrument (Di-Tar) at his upcoming concerts. His latest album Budala Aurası contains songs that clearly show the point to which Ahmet Aslan has developed his music.

What is Masters of Anatolia?

Masters of Anatolia is the new festival in the form of a series of concert evenings. Together with eight leading Dutch concert halls across the country, Masters of Anatolia brings the rich musical culture from Anatolia to the Netherlands. As the name suggests, the festival programs the leading master instrumentalists and vocalists who draw their musical inspiration from Anatolian roots.
