Old Salt is an international Americana band based in Ghent. The band is grouped around New York singer Dan Wall, who also plays banjo, violin and harmonica. When he moved Europe in 2013, he met a number of musicians with whom it clicked well and with whom he laid the foundation for the company that will perform this evening. Meanwhile, in addition to Dan Wall, the core of the group consists of Lotte Remmen on violin and vocals and Johannes Wanynn on guitar and vocals, both from Belgium. And for this concert, they will be joined by Chilean double bassist Tomas Peralta.

Old Salt brings an infectious blend of original and traditional music that includes influences from New Orleans street music, Appalachian folk and European folk music. All of this is brought together in unusual arrangements that push the boundaries of the genre.

In 2019, the band released the album "Commons," which translates both personal and social themes into a mix of original and traditional compositions and arrangements. And recently, Old Salt released the 5 track mini album 'Live in Room 13,' which translates some themes from the corona period, such as loneliness, hope and loss.

In 2017, the company received the 'European World of Bluegrass' award. A live performance by Old Salt is always a wonderful experience. Of course because of the great music, but also certainly because of the enthusiasm and virtuosity of the band.
