Earlier that evening, she had played Brahms' violin concerto with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Jaap van Zweden, with the audience interrupting her with thunderous applause after each movement. With all the 'big' that comes her way - a star artist in great demand worldwide - the Utrecht violinist does not forget the small, the modest. Celebrated in the great solo concerts, she is a grandiose chamber musician and also plays Bach. His inventions were featured on one of her beautiful CDs; now she can be heard in both Bach's violin concertos and in a double concerto. Written in the 1920s, these are among the first concertos that allowed the solo violin to spread its wings.
