'If you want to make music, you owe it to the composer to really give everything you have.' Words from violinist Janine Jansen. Hearing the very young Japanese violinist Hina Maeda, violinist and critic Heather Kurzbauer understood, this young violinist is following in Jansen's footsteps: 'That's what Hina does. She plays fully from the heart.' Hina Maeda is only 20 but already has a great track record. Before she gloriously won the Wieniawski Competition in 2022, she already achieved - at 13! - the highest score at the Violinwettbewerb Kloster Schöntal. Pianist José Gallardo is in great demand as a chamber music player. Now he accompanies Hina Maeda, while he has previously performed with Vilde Frang, Gidon Kremer and Nicolas Altstaedt.

Rarely does Mozart venture into the minor regions. His Violin Sonata in E minor is one of his most beautiful and melancholic works. He wrote it when he was 22, in Paris, shortly after his mother died. We enter an ethereal world in Jules Massenet's beautiful Méditation. An interlude from the 1894 opera Thaïs, which violinists love to put on the programme as a separate piece. When 24-year-old Richard Strauss wrote his violin sonata, he was very much in love with the young soprano Pauline d'Ahna; soon he would marry her. Lyrical and amorous, this virtuoso work by the young Strauss.
