'English music is in a state of perpetual promise,' British world-renowned conductor Sir Thomas Beecham once said. That promise is now more than fulfilled with chief conductor Duncan Ward and internationally acclaimed tenor Marc Padmore - how English do you want it. 'On poets' lips I slept, dreaming like one addicted to love...' wrote Shelley in 1820.

To eight British poems about the nightly world of dreams, Benjamin Britten composed his Nocturne for tenor and orchestra. With Gustav Holst's beloved The Planets, we dream on about magical journeys to distant planets. From a belligerent Mars to a peaceful Venus, through an exuberant Jupiter and the magic of Uranus to Neptune the 'mysterious', dying away in wordless choral sounds. A symphonic experience without parallel.
