Cypriot pianist Tonia Ioannou is known for her touching and engaging small concerts. Her goal recently has been to take the "seriousness " away from classical concerts. Music is there to be shared and enjoyed together. During the concerts the audience has the opportunity to read the score while listening to the music and express their opinions, questions and feedback at the end, creating a beautiful atmosphere not 3 only for the audience but also for the musicians. After finishing her studies at the Conservatorium of Cologne in the class of Sheila Arnold she performed across Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium as well as her home country Cyprus. A big part of her artistic development is teaching and sharing her knowledge and experience with young pianists. Her class at the moment consists of 20 students of different ages and is regularly invited to play and teach at public schools in Germany.

Lunchtime concerts

Lunchtime concerts are wonderful to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to enjoy a pleasant concert in the Small Hall. That really helps break up the day nicely! From piano recitals to chamber music and wind instruments, the offerings are diverse and innovative. Because we believe that emerging talent deserves a stage, the lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other budding gems in the program.
