The 19th Leeds piano competition was won by Eric Lu, a 20-year-old from Boston in the United States, whose sparkling and supremely confident performance of Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto secured him the top place, and also the Hallé orchestra prize.
Of course, this year’s competition may just have launched the career of a new Murray Perahia, Mitsuko Uchida, Lars Vogt or Severin von Eckardstein – all Leeds Competition winners! Founded in 1963 by Marion, Countess of Harewood, this is one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions.
At this concert you get a delicious cheese plate and a nice glass of wine, before or after the concert you are welcome in the foyer.
