Wiener Symphoniker & Gautier Capuçon
Dvořák's cello concertoInternational top orchestrasSat 20 Apr ’24'If I knew you could write a cello concerto like that, I would have made one a long time ago.' said Johannes Brahms, a little jealous, when he heard his friend Dvorák's cello concerto. A work that has it all; it's heroic, it's powerful, it's lyrical, and it's wistful where, toward the end, Dvorák quotes a song he dedicated to a recently deceased beloved woman, his sister-in-law Josefina. In the hands of French cellist Gautier Capuçon, this becomes a top-notch experience: 'his slender but penetrating sound and rhythmic sharpness were matched by his abundance of lyrical feeling.' (Chicago Tribune).
There will be a free introduction at 19:30, co-sponsored by the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven Friends Association.-

In doing so, she seeks freedom in music, but with the emotional depth of the genre. Through her modern approach to traditional fado, enriching it with jazz, world music and pop, she has developed a completely unique style. The performer has been a much-loved personality on Dutch stages for years and has collaborated with BLØF, among others, in the past. This year, Cristina once again dives into the studio to surprise and entertain her audience with new music and a new show.

Lunchtime concert
FAA Composition ClassThu 2 May ’24It's spring, and not only the birds are singing a new song. Jonatan Repokari and Kiete van der Laan, composition students at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg, both created a series of songs that differ like day and night but are both about love. Repokari's "Kultaiset linnut" (Golden Birds) is about a woman mourning her lost or unattainable love. In his characteristic lyrical musical language, Repokari captures the protagonist's emotions, tossed back and forth between hope and sorrow.
