Ola Gjeilo doesn't just excel with his piano music; he's also one of the most performed composers in the choral world. Originally from Norway, he has lived in America for years, and it's perhaps his adopted homeland that has the greatest influence on his characteristic sound world. Often described as cinematic and evocative, with a lush, harmonious sound, Wishful Singing brings that to life: five Dutch, classically trained women with impeccably pure voices.

Seeking connection through music: that's Wishful Singing. With great passion and expression, they sing a wide range of musical styles, ranging from Renaissance and Baroque to folk music and close harmony. They also enjoy performing contemporary repertoire. The five members regularly perform in Dutch venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at festivals such as November Music and the Cello Biënnale. But they can also be heard at prestigious international festivals, such as the City of London Festival. In addition, the ensemble undertakes international tours, taking them to countries including Japan, the United States, Germany, Spain, Estonia, and Italy. Born in 1978 in Norway, Ola Gjeilo studied at the renowned Juilliard School in New York. Currently, he resides in Laguna Beach, California. Classical Candor wrote about his recent CD "Dreamweaver": "Masterly choral writing."
