Wishful Singing celebrates its 20th anniversary! After more than 700 concerts in 15 different countries, the ensemble is celebrating its birthday on home soil in a unique collaboration with the internationally acclaimed piano-flute duo Mars Smith. Daniela Mars and Paul Smith are known for their improvisations and captivating, cinematic compositions.

The heart of the programme features texts and compositions by Hildegard von Bingen, a versatile genius from the 12th century. Her oeuvre inspired Wishful Singing ten years ago to delve deeper into Gregorian music. Ola Gjeilo, in his compositions, draws on this centuries-old music, which continues to resonate. The icing on the cake is a piece specially composed for Wishful Singing by Diederik van der Laag, inspired by the medieval hymn Ubi caritas et amor.

Mars Smith replaces Ola Gjeilo

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Ola Gjeilo will not be able to come to the Netherlands for the planned collaboration with Wishful Singing. We are pleased to announce that the celebrated international duo Mars Smith will join Wishful Singing on stage. After concerts in Singapore, the USA, Australia, and England, this will be their debut on Dutch soil. Ticket holders have been informed of this change via email.
