Emily Nenni
Honky-tonk enriched with country, soul & rock 'n' rollAmericana MondaysMon 26 Aug ’24Singer-songwriter and guitarist Emily Nenni moved from California to Nashville at the age of 21 with the intention of becoming a songwriter, not a performer. However, after a few guest appearances in small clubs, her reputation quickly grew. She rapidly became one of the most refreshing and exciting voices in Nashville. Her sound is deeply rooted in classic honky-tonk, enriched with country, soul, and rock 'n' roll. Nenni's music is characterized by honest and emotional lyrics, often based on personal experiences and stories. Her voice, reminiscent of Dolly Parton, adds a unique and recognizable tone. Starting in September, she will be touring with country musician Orville Peck, but first, she will be stopping by Eindhoven for Americana Mondays!

The Wood Brothers
Mixture of folk, country, blues, and jazzTue 27 Aug ’24Brothers Chris and Oliver Wood have been making music together as The Wood Brothers since 2006. In 2011, multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix joined the duo, adding layers of texture to their music with his arsenal of instruments. The trio blends folk, country, blues, and jazz into a typical Americana style while maintaining a distinct sound. Their performances as a trio are so impressive that it's hard to believe there are only three of them. In 2013, they received widespread recognition with their album 'The Muse,' and in 2018, they received a Grammy nomination for their album 'One Drop of Truth'.

AMIMEA & Job Roggeveen
Organic and adventurous piano piecesSound & SilenceThu 29 Aug ’24Job Roggeveen and AMIMEA, both neoclassical composers and pianists, had a plan to compose together. During a quatre-mains improvisation, two adventurous piano pieces emerged very organically. Think of muted strings, repetitive rhythms, and staccato bass patterns. During this duo show, they take you on a journey from serene melancholic piano melodies to subtle electronics and driving quatre-mains pieces. They take turns, complement each other, and let their characteristic sound and voices blend into a captivating neoclassical evening. AMIMEA released her second album "A Million Tiny Lenses" this year. Job Roggeveen will present his fifth album "Soothing Hymns For Bewildered Hearts" this autumn.

Porcelain id
Raw vocals and emotional depthHit The City 2024Fri 30 Aug ’24Rwandan artist Porcelain id, aka Hubert Tuyishime, burst onto the scene in 2020 with a unique blend of raw vocals and emotional depth. They effortlessly switch between Dutch and English, crafting lyrics about identity, gender, and racism. Influenced by artists like Destroyer, Bon Iver, and Daniel Johnston, their music has made them a standout talent in Belgium. While their debut "Mango" was a concept EP about queerness, police brutality and identity, follow-up "Reprise" is an intimate and poetic state of affairs. It’s highlight? "Vlaanderen," a heartfelt gospel song sung in Porcelain id’s Flemish accent and a poignant ode to life’s struggles, echoing their own childhood challenges as a black and queer individual. Their debut album "Bibi:1" (2024) is an eclectic infusion of inspired folk with raw soul and edgy electronica, and already acclaimed as utterly unique and ahead of its time. The kind of record people later make documentaries about, so make sure to not miss this concert!

Andrew Combs
Mix of country, americana, and indie folkAmericana MondaysMon 9 Sep ’24The American singer-songwriter Andrew Combs is often classified within the country genre, partly because he has been operating from the country capital, Nashville, for many years. Lunchtime concert
ADAM Quartet & Soumaya AhouaouiThu 12 Sep ’24In "Designerbaby's," actor Soumaya Ahouaoui tells a story about the cutting and pasting of DNA, and why this is a good idea despite resulting in designer babies. She narrates this story using Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet as a backdrop. Ravel composed this work in a time (1889) when new technological possibilities were emerging rapidly. His music offers insights into the moral choices that accompany such advancements, much like today. This afternoon, the ADAM Quartet will perform both Ravel's famous string quartet and Gabriella Smith's "Carrot Revolution," which is inspired by a quote from painter Paul Cézanne.
