'Clarity and an enchantingly light elegance', wrote Spiegel Kultur excitedly about violinist Antje Weithaas' playing. Enthusiasm, curiosity and an urge to renew herself characterise this celebrated German soloist. In this concert, Weithaas leads the musicians of Philzuid from the concertmaster's chair, i.e. conducting and playing along herself. This gives the symphonies by Haydn and Beethoven the lively power of chamber music.

Of course, she also plays the solo, and in one of her favourite pieces, Mendelssohn's First (different!) violin concerto. Prodigy Mendelssohn composed it at 13, unimaginable. In Weithaas' words: 'You feel his genius and liveliness, which is typical of Mendelssohn, in every note. In short, a concert that will give you energy!
