The second edition of the festival Merhaba Eindhoven will take place on Saturday 18 Novembe! in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. This day is all about Turkish culture. The festival begins at noon with a bazaar and various activities. More information about the afternoon program can be found here.

 

This is a seated/standing concert with free choice of seats.

 

Headliner: Mabel Matiz

Headliner of the festival evening is the great Mabel Matiz! He is a Turkish singer-songwriter, composer, and performer known for his unique style blending elements of traditional Turkish music with modern pop, rock, and electronics. 


Mabel Matiz began his musical career in the early 2000s when he started performing at local bars and clubs in Istanbul. He quickly gained a following among the city's music lovers, and his unique sound and style soon caught the attention of music producers and record labels. In 2012, he released his debut album, "Mabel Matiz," which received huge critical acclaim and earned him a loyal fan base. Mabel Matiz draws inspiration from various musical genres, including Turkish classical music, Arabesque, and Anatolian rock, as well as international pop and rock music. His lyrics often explore themes of love, loss, and selfdiscovery, and he is praised for his poetic and introspective songwriting.


Last year he scored a big hit with his single 'Antidepresan', which gave his international career a huge boost. One of Mabel Matiz's other significant hits is "Gök Nerede", released in 2015. The song quickly became a sensation and earned him widespread recognition in Turkey and beyond. Its music video has been viewed millions of times on YouTube. Mabel Matiz has released several successful albums throughout his career, including "Gök Nerede" (2015), and "Maya" (2018). His music has been praised for its innovative and unique sound, and he has won numerous awards.

Music from the Orient

Music From The Orient's performances feature the rich musical heritage from the Eastern Mediterranean, Anatolia, the Levant and the Balkans. Founded in 2017 in Eindhoven as a project of Mercan & Bülent Kocuroǧlu, Başak Ebret and Önder Babur, Music From The Orient covers a wide range of musical styles and languages, including Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic, Greek, Ladino and languages from the Balkans. Music From The Orient aims to connect people from different backgrounds and cultures, and has already organized many multicultural events, especially in Eindhoven, but also in the rest of the Netherlands.

Orkun & Seniz

Pianist Seniz Duru Koevoets and bağlama and tambur player Orkun Agir will be taking you on a journey to Turkey with famous folk songs.


DJ Blue Flamingo

DJ Blue Flamingo (Ziya Ertekin) will be hosting the afterparty once again. Blue Flamingo, his stage name, has so far released three compilation albums for Excelsior Recordings and played at various festivals at home and abroad, including: Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Roskilde and the Festival d'Ile de France in Paris. As a DJ, he usually plays an eclectic mix of styles such as jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, Afro, reggae, dub and Latin. Especially for 'Merhaba Eindhoven', however, he will once more dive into the rich musical tradition of his father's country. During the previous edition, he set the foyer on fire with Turkish pop classics and traditionals and this year, too, it promises to be another great party.

At all concerts during Merhaba Eindhoven!, there is a free choice of place. Please note that reservations for a specific seat cannot be made.



Bazaar

The Merhaba Eindhoven! festivities are not limited to the evening. In the afternoon, Turkish culture is also celebrated with a colorful bazaar, music, food and drinks, and fun children's activities. The bazaar is open from 1:00 PM and can also be visited in the evening until 9:00 PM. During the afternoon bazaar, various performances and children's activities take place.

 

It is possible to visit only the bazaar and the afternoon activities. Tickets are available separately and cost €3.50. When purchased in combination with a ticket for the evening programme, they cost €2.50. More information can be found here.
