The Dutch pianist and composer Mattias Spee is captivated by the night. In his program as part of Dutch Classical Talent, he explores the emotions that a person can experience during the various stages of a sleepless night. A concert like a journey through the night – featuring his own compositions and pieces by composers such as Chopin, Poulenc, and Skrjabin.

At night, everything is magnified. Human experience bursts at the seams when the moon shines and the world sleeps. A sleepless night is like embarking on a journey through the extremes of all the emotions a person can feel. Numerous composers, such as Chopin, Scriabin, and Poulenc, have been inspired by the mysterious, elusive nature of the night. Following their example, the young pianist Mattias Spee has now created a cycle of compositions, in which all stages of sleeplessness are lived through. He contrasts his own music with the compositions that have inspired him.
