Master sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar is coming to Eindhoven for the first time! She was born in London as the daughter of the legendary Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar. Anoushka extends her repertoire beyond traditional Indian classical music and explores various genres, including fusion, world music, and electronic music. Shankar has collaborated with artists from diverse cultures such as Herbie Hancock, Sting, and her half-sister Norah Jones. During this concert, she will showcase the beautiful music from her previous albums and perform tracks from her latest EP, "Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn."

At the age of nine, Anoushka began playing the sitar and learning Indian classical music, with intensive guidance from her father. During her teenage years, she traveled the world with her father, simultaneously developing her own musical style. In this journey, she discovered similarities between the meditative aspects of Indian classical music and the exhilarating atmosphere of the dance floor. Over the years, she has released several albums that have not gone unnoticed by music critics. Anoushka made Grammy Award history; she was the first woman of Indian descent to be nominated for a Grammy Award and also the first Indian musician to perform live and serve as a presenter at the Grammy Awards. Her live album 'Between Us...' was nominated for Best Global Music Album in 2023.
