Eindhoven organisations Liberation 040 and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven are joining forces once again with three major primary schools in the city to tell pupils about freedom in a very special way. Under the umbrella of the successful "Drawing for Freedom" project - the first edition took place in 2022 - pupils will receive classroom information from TU/e students about what freedom is and what it means if you can't grow up in freedom. LIke last year, the War Child Foundation is also involved in the project again, providing the teaching packages.

Following this lesson, pupils make a drawing about freedom. The drawings are collected andjoined together into a animation by animator Ruben Aldenhoven. Musician/composer Guy Salamon composes the music to go with it.

On 9 June, all pupils are invited to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven to watch 'their' film about freedom in the Main Hall on a large (10x5m). screen! Guy Salamon and band will of course be present to accompany the film live with the film track.

Muziekgebouw Eindhoven believes in the power of music With thia project, it wants to contibute to making music accessible to all the children of Eindhoven. Last year's overwhelming success - involving as many as 600 primary school pupils and their parents - justifies the annual recurrence of this event involving as many primary school age children as possible. Schools are sought out from districts, where cultural experience is not something that comes naturally to some children. By taking full control of the organisation, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven gives these children the chance to attend a major concert. The animated film of their own drawings - how brilliant to see your own drawing come to life! - lowers the threshold even further.

Additionlly, two schools will organise a sponsored running event, proceeds of which will go to War Child. This way, the children of Eindhoven can pass on freedom to children who can't grow up in freedom.

On 9 June, the concert will be held in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and all drawings will also be exhibited during the Liberation 040 festival in the city centre on 16 September 2023.
