In "Beauty Awake," Canadian mezzo-soprano Georgia Burashko sings about several major themes of life: childhood, love, heartache, and eternity. It is a highly diverse anthology, featuring English-language songs from the Elizabethan Renaissance to the High Baroque and beyond. She is accompanied by a highly versatile ensemble of two viols and a lute. With her passion for contemporary composers, she also presents works by her compatriot Danika Lorèn, by Dolly Parton, and a new piece composed specifically for this program by the Dutch composer Karmit Fadael. Four centuries of multicolored beauty, awakened in one hour.
