Tijs Klaassen is a name to remember. Over the past few years, the bassist has become a prominent figure in the Dutch jazz scene. His own band embodies his creative approach to a traditional jazz quintet lineup. The band's sound allows plenty of room for improvisation, but at times, it also draws inspiration from the sounds of classical composers like Theo Loevendie, Ravel, and Alban Berg. Arco bass melodies, woodwind instruments, and the use of electronics all come together in the ensemble's distinctive sound. Each band member is deeply involved in the creative process in their own way, resulting in a very unique group sound.

Klaassen continually collaborates with both established figures and the greatest talents from his own generation. He has already recorded albums with Ben van Gelder and Theo Loevendie, and he plays in the bands of artists like Lucas Santana and Suzan Veneman. All the musicians in the quintet are among the most acclaimed young jazz musicians and composers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Every other Saturday, established names and surprisingly emerging talent from the contemporary jazz and soul scene take turns in an informal club setting at Blue Note ClubSessions. At Meneer Frits, the focus is on combining socializing with enjoying top-notch live music.

The ClubCard has a scratch-off layer revealing a unique code. You can use this code to order your Blue Note ClubSessions tickets online prior to the concert. The ClubCard itself does not grant access to the concert, so make sure to order your tickets beforehand. The ClubCard is valid for all Blue Note ClubSessions in the 2023/2024 season, which runs until July 2024. 

You can choose to have the ClubCard delivered to your home for an additional fee or pick it up at our box office. Don’t forget to bring the order confirmation.

Timetable

The doors of Meneer Frits open at 4:00 PM, where you can already enjoy a drink and the music of a jazz DJ. The live concert starts at 5:00 PM and will last until 6:15 PM. To wrap up the event nicely, the jazz DJ will play until 7:00 PM.
