Are we disconnected from nature or are we connected to it? Great artists pose big questions, even in music. Composer and conductor Gregor Mayrhofer wondered how he could reuse discarded objects. His Recycling Concerto became a breathtaking concert for "anything else that would end up in the trash" and orchestra.

Vivi Vassileva (winner of the Leonard Bernstein Award 2023) is one of the most talented percussionists of our time. "Vassileva completely immerses herself in the rhythm; her gestures, facial expressions, and her entire body become pure energy," wrote the Kölnische Rundschau. She knows exactly what to do with the colorful percussion setup of discarded pots and pans, glasses and plastic bottles, beverage cans, lampshades, and saw blades. In this program where nature takes center stage, Mayrhofer conducts, entirely unspoiled, a flowing Moldau by Smetana, and Mendelssohn's passion for nature resonates in his tempestuous Hebrides Overture.
