Last weekend, over seven hundred Tamils celebrated the traditional New Year party in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. It was a great feast of connection that transported visitors back to India for a while, not just mentally but also physically.

During the Tamil New Year, the Eindhoven Indian community celebrated its origins and culture at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. With Indian food, traditional dress and performances in the spirit of the culture, the values and beauty of India were fully expressed.

A multitude of acts passed the enthusiastic spectators on stage, including a children's band, 3 classical dance performances, 2 dance-dramas and over 18 dance companies. This involved a total of 87 participants.

This brilliant event, which was also attended by the mayor of Eindhoven, is an opportunity for people within the Tamil community to get to know each other. "I work a lot, so I have very little time to connect with other people from the community. Events like this ensure that I get to know other Tamils in the Netherlands," one of the visitors said.
