‘Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.’ This beautiful, insightful remark by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat seamlessly aligns with the theme of the BRIDGE Youth Guitar spectacle. 'Time & Motion' is indeed the fundamental concept behind the concert, which - as the title suggests - promises nothing less than to be spectacular. 120 young guitarists will perform alongside a large orchestra at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. This spectacle is under the direction of guitarist and conductor Peter Constant, who, along with the musicians, delves into the central theme. Time and motion have long been sources of inspiration for music throughout the ages. Think of rhythm, dynamics, but also the silence between the notes. Especially when you're on stage with so many musicians, the aspects of 'time and motion' during this spectacle demand extra focus and attention.

Special guest soloist is guitar phenomenon Sönke Meinen from Germany. This world-class guitarist embraces all influences: from folk to classical, from pop to jazz. Sönke's unique fingerpicking style is simultaneously virtuosic, delicate, quirky, and groovy. It's incredible how he does it, but thanks to his fantastic technique, he manages to play multiple styles at the same time. You'll notice how he gives his own twist to the theme of Time & Motion when you experience his graceful movements live.

Even more spectacle is provided by the Dutch flamenco duo Encuentros. Guitarist Tijn van der Sanden accompanies the passionate movements of dancer Jessica Achten, emphasizing the encounter between music and dance, as well as between the artists and the audience.

The BRIDGE Youth Guitar spectacle is made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Dutch Youth Guitar Orchestra (NJGO), Guitar Orchestra Ponticello, ukulele students of Mr. Rick, and many guitar teachers and their students from the Brainport region.
