The first time Tess Merlot heard Jacques Brel, lightning struck. Since then, the music hasn't stopped. She formed the band Tess et les Moutons, and hundreds of shows later, every performance still revolves around the essence: bringing the human soul to the surface as only the French chanson can. For her second album 'Chante la vie,' she searched for words and melodies to express new changes in her life. The disappearance of the parental home and the connection to childhood, the loss of a loved one, and the transience of friendships. But also the positive aspects of personal growth, the evolution of a long-lasting love, and the realization that, once adults, we continue to take leaps into the unknown.

That the French chanson, like no other genre, knows how to embody feelings of sorrow, happiness, and nostalgia, Tess Merlot realized when she first started writing her own songs. Since her debut album 'Laissez-moi,' Tess Merlot has become the chanteuse of the Low Countries. She toured with her band throughout the country and even played with the Residentie Orkest in a sold-out PAARD in The Hague in November 2023. In addition, she creates podcasts and radio programs about French-language music and is regularly invited to national TV and radio to share her love for the chanson. On September 21, she'll share it with you at the Blue Note ClubSessions!

Every other Saturday, established names and surprisingly emerging talent from the contemporary jazz and soul scene take turns in an informal club setting at Blue Note ClubSessions. At M, the focus is on combining socializing with enjoying top-notch live music.

The ClubCard has a scratch-off layer revealing a unique code. You can use this code to order your Blue Note ClubSessions tickets online prior to the concert. The ClubCard itself does not grant access to the concert, so make sure to order your tickets beforehand. The ClubCard is valid for all Blue Note ClubSessions in the 2023/2024 season, which runs until July 2024. 

You can choose to have the ClubCard delivered to your home for an additional fee or pick it up at our box office. Don’t forget to bring the order confirmation.

Timetable

The doors of M open at 4:00 PM, where you can already enjoy a drink and the music of a jazz DJ. The live concert starts at 5:00 PM and will last until 6:15 PM. To wrap up the event nicely, the jazz DJ will play until 7:00 PM.
