Spring concert Symphony Orchestra Eindhoven
Passion en romanceFor the Love of MusicThu 23 May ’24The violin concerto by Brahms is one of the most significant works in the violin repertoire. From a technical standpoint, the concerto is highly demanding, featuring extensive use of polyphony, broken chords, rapid passages, and rhythmic variation. The Symphony in D minor is the most well-known orchestral work and the only symphony written by the 19th-century composer César Franck. The symphony employs a cyclic form, with significant themes recurring in all three movements. Particularly beautiful is the melodic line at the beginning of the slow movement, featuring harp, English horn, and mysteriously played muted strings.

The octet delivers a unique blend of garage soul reminiscent of the music from Detroit and Philadelphia in the '60s and '70s. A retro style infused with The Tibbs' distinctive sound. With a lineup of drums, bass guitar, guitar, and Hammond, a three-piece brass section, and the powerful vocals of frontwoman Roxanne, the band stands strong. On January 26th, they released their brand-new album, 'Keep It To Yourself,' exuding the authentic Tibbs sound. For this album, the band drew inspiration from classic soul labels like Stax and Motown, as well as the New Orleans soul of Irma Thomas and Betty Harris.

They were incorporated into disco hits and launched into space aboard Voyager as a human salute to extraterrestrial intelligence. In World War II, this fate rhythm (Morse code short, short, short, long) symbolized the V of victory.

Pynarello
Tschaikovsky's PathétiqueClassics with a twistTue 28 May ’24This project, Pynarello is venturing into Tchaikovsky's sixth, which the composer himself said was his best work. However, a mysterious atmosphere surrounds this last Tchaikovsky symphony, as the composer died nine days after conducting the premiere in 1893. Theories circulate about cholera, suicide, his hidden homosexuality, but nothing surrounding his death has ever been proven. This mysterious history is the starting point for Pynarello's journey of discovering Symphony Pathétique.

Youth Guitar Spectacle
Time & MotionBRIDGE Guitar FestivalFri 31 May ’24‘Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.’ This beautiful, insightful remark by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat seamlessly aligns with the theme of the BRIDGE Youth Guitar spectacle. 'Time & Motion' is indeed the fundamental concept behind the concert, which - as the title suggests - promises nothing less than to be spectacular. 120 young guitarists will perform alongside a large orchestra at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. This spectacle is under the direction of guitarist and conductor Peter Constant, who, along with the musicians, delves into the central theme. Time and motion have long been sources of inspiration for music throughout the ages. Think of rhythm, dynamics, but also the silence between the notes. Especially when you're on stage with so many musicians, the aspects of 'time and motion' during this spectacle demand extra focus and attention.

Cocobolo
BRIDGE AROUND TOWNBRIDGE Guitar FestivalFri 31 May ’24Cocobolo sounds like the more candid variant of Khruangbin, with fine surf influences and delightful guitar parts. You could also rightfully mention Orions Belte, Jungle by Night, and BADBADNOTGOOD in the same breath as this trio. But, as it goes with references, comparing them to those other bands is quite limiting. Because Cocobolo is more than that. They create a mix of old-school funk, psychedelic rock guitars, and surf guitars with a retro sound.
