On January 26th, they released their brand-new album, 'Keep It To Yourself,' exuding the authentic Tibbs sound. • Philzuid

    Beethoven's most famous
    Storioni Festival
    Sat 25 May ’24

Ta-ta-ta-taa ... fate knocks on the door in Beethoven's Fifth. They are perhaps the most famous notes in all of music history. They were incorporated into disco hits and launched into space aboard Voyager as a human salute to extraterrestrial intelligence. In World War II, this fate rhythm (Morse code short, short, short, long) symbolized the V of victory.

However, a mysterious atmosphere surrounds this last Tchaikovsky symphony, as the composer died nine days after conducting the premiere in 1893. Theories circulate about cholera, suicide, his hidden homosexuality, but nothing surrounding his death has ever been proven. This mysterious history is the starting point for Pynarello's journey of discovering Symphony Pathétique.

  • Youth Guitar Spectacle

    Time & Motion
    BRIDGE Guitar Festival
    Fri 31 May ’24

‘Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.’ This beautiful, insightful remark by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat seamlessly aligns with the theme of the BRIDGE Youth Guitar spectacle. 'Time & Motion' is indeed the fundamental concept behind the concert, which - as the title suggests - promises nothing less than to be spectacular. 120 young guitarists will perform alongside a large orchestra at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. This spectacle is under the direction of guitarist and conductor Peter Constant, who, along with the musicians, delves into the central theme. Time and motion have long been sources of inspiration for music throughout the ages. Think of rhythm, dynamics, but also the silence between the notes. Especially when you're on stage with so many musicians, the aspects of 'time and motion' during this spectacle demand extra focus and attention.

  • Mozes & Stochelo Rosenberg + Rafael Cortes sr & jr

  • Cocobolo

    BRIDGE AROUND TOWN
    BRIDGE Guitar Festival
    Fri 31 May ’24

Cocobolo sounds like the more candid variant of Khruangbin, with fine surf influences and delightful guitar parts. You could also rightfully mention Orions Belte, Jungle by Night, and BADBADNOTGOOD in the same breath as this trio. But, as it goes with references, comparing them to those other bands is quite limiting. Because Cocobolo is more than that. They create a mix of old-school funk, psychedelic rock guitars, and surf guitars with a retro sound.

  • John Ghost

Along the way you will encounter Jaga Jazzist. And Frank Zappa. Battles too. Even Steve Reich is one of the fellow passers-by. 'John Ghost is constantly looking for new sounds. Intoxicating, dreamy soundscapes are constantly alternated with rhythmic patterns, as they describe it themselves. John Ghost is a band that takes you into their universe and doesn't let go easily.

Whether it's his performances alongside some of the world's greatest musicians, his prestigious Thelonious Monk Award win (with judges like John Scofield, Pat Metheny, and Jim Hall), or the numerous beautiful albums he's released since his debut in 1996 (both solo and with collaborators like SfeQ, Hans Teeuwen, and Benjamin Herman), you might have read about it all before. • The Music of Gary Lucas & Jeff Buckley

    Heroes Night
    BRIDGE Guitar Festival
    Sat 1 Jun ’24

When two giants collaborate, they can elevate each other to great heights. That's precisely what happened when Gary Lucas and Jeff Buckley found each other. One conjured atmospheric, elusive guitar lines from his fingertips. The other possessed a celestial voice with an impossible range. Together, they created pure magic with Grace. This album is now thirty years old. To commemorate that memorable moment, guitarist Gary Lucas will perform a special show during a Heroes Night at the BRIDGE Guitar Festival, in collaboration with Co de Kloet.

  • Aure

    BRIDGE AROUND TOWN
    BRIDGE Guitar Festival
    Sat 1 Jun ’24

When Aure takes the stage, it's time for stillness. For attention. And for music that takes you to a dream landscape. With her deep, sultry voice, French Aure inevitably evokes thoughts of greats like Nico or Françoise Hardy. She sings about her doubts and love confronted with time, in direct lyrics that she delivers as emotional snapshots, without adornment. The stripped-down production, mainly with guitar and voice, emphasizes that directness, like a contemporary Nick Drake, or more recently Big Thief, Mariee Sioux, and also Jeff Buckley. On her acoustic guitar, Aure finds beautiful chord progressions that form a fine carpet for her unique voice.

  • Cloud Cafe

    BRIDGE AROUND TOWN
    BRIDGE Guitar Festival
    Sat 1 Jun ’24

Some terms used to describe music don't really capture the essence. In the case of Cloud Cafe, the term 'grungefolk' does indeed get you quite a bit in the right direction. The quartet, led by guitarist/vocalist Tara Wilts, creates melancholic songs with a raw edge. The band's tracks, signed by Excelsior Recordings – a notable stamp of approval – evoke comparisons to the likes of Mazzy Star and Big Thief. Additionally, Wilts draws inspiration from artists such as Neil Young, Laura Marling, and Molly Drake (yes, Nick's mother). "Tender and dreamy songs that fill the room and make it sway," as described by 3voor12 in a review of their performance at Paradiso. During BRIDGE AROUND TOWN, they fill M with their delightful 'musical microcosm of everyday chaos and melancholy.'
